How to Wire a Digital Fuse Holder Terminal Block

Fuse holder terminal blocks are an absolute necessity in larger car audio systems. Designed to protect the power wire and associated equipment, these are placed 12 inches to 18 inches from the battery. Some of these devices incorporate digital voltage readouts that allow you to see at a glance the real voltage being supplied by the battery.

Remove the vehicle's positive power wire, using the ratchet and socket set.

Cut a length of power wire sufficient to reach from the vehicle's battery to the amplifier mounting location. Cut 12 inches of wire from the end of this lead.

Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from both ends of the 12-inch section of power wire.

Slide the ring terminal over one end of the short power wire. Screw down the set screw to secure it to the end of the wire.

Slide the other end of the short power wire into one end of the digital Fuse holder terminal block. Screw down the integral set screw on the connection collar to secure this end of the 12-inch power wire.

Strip an additional 1/2 inch of insulation from one end of the remaining power wire. Slide this into the other end of the digital Fuse holder terminal block.

Push the power cable into the vehicle's cabin for eventual amplifier connection. Use an existing rubber boot, housing wires leading from the engine bay to the cabin, to pass the wire through.

Slide the ring terminal under the positive battery terminal. Reattach the terminal with the ratchet and socket set.

Insert the fuse per the holder manufacturer's directions. Turn the vehicle to the accessory key position to view the available voltage.
